Oct. 10, 1973 - A new mast for round the world sailor: French sailor Eric Tabarly, the leader in the round the world regatta was stopped in Rio de Janeiro by a broken mast on his boat. Within 3 days a swiss constructor has built a new one which is 25 meters long and weights 600 kilos. Meanwhile the mast was brought by a Boeing-707 from Geneva to Rio so that the lonely sailor Tabarly will be able to continue the race
