Jun. 06, 1976 - The start of the fifth single-handed transatlantic yacht race: The most spectacular fleet of one-man yachts started out from Plymouth of Saturday, June 5th, for the fifth observer single-handed Transatlantic race of 3, 00-miles to Newport Rhode Island. There were 125 yachts competing in the race. Photo shows the French yacht Pen Duick VI, sailed by Eric Tabarly, pictured soon after the start of the race at Plymouth
