Jun. 09, 1978 - June 9th 1978 A Big Welcome for Naomi as she steps ashore at Dartmouth Lone sailor Naomi James sailed triumphantly home yesterday beating the record for navigating the world single handed in a 53ft. yacht called Express Crusader. Thousands of excited people turned out to cheer her into Dartmouth, her home town. Naomi not only sailed the largest yacht by any woman across any ocean but was also the first woman to sail alone around Cape Horn.
