Jan. 01, 1983 - Getting Ready For 30, 000 Mile Voyage 11 Yacht Climbing The Rigging: A party of nine people are preparing their 86 ton ex-German Ketch ASTA in the Hamble River, Hampshire for the start of their 30, 000 mile Roundsbout voyage to San Francisco via the Mediterranean, the Red Sea, Caylon and the East Indies. The vessel will be captained by Frenchman Richard Aramburu who was a fisherman in South America and who comes from Marseilles. Photo shows Pretty Sheila Pickles (22) who comes from Huddersfield - who has been on many sailing trips round the coast during the past four years - climbs the rigging of the ASTA at Hamble. They expect to leave on their voyage next Friday
