Boats - Sailing - Ships

Sep. 09, 1980 - Raising of the Titanic: Described as one of the most ambitious projects of the decade, film producers have now made a picture about the raising of the famous luxury cruise liner, Titanic'. The vessel throught to be unsinkable struck an iceburg on its maiden voyage and sunk taking 1500 people with it off Newfoundland in 1912, has been a topic of speculation for salvage experts for many years. The film is based on the best-seller novel by Clive Cusslar, called Raise the Titanic'. Photo shows the old Greek liner Athainai which was dressed up in the film to look-lie the salvaged Titanic
