Jul. 07, 1979 - Bathclub Sailor At Falmouth: Gerry Spiess, 39, sailed his home made 10 foot by five foot bathtub yacht into a great welcome at Falmouth, yesterday after crossing the Atlantic in 54-days. Hundreds watched as the blue Yankee Girl flying the stars and Stripes, and British came into harbour after its 3, 200 mile voyage. Mr. Soiess who comes from Minnesota, was met by his 37-year-old wife Sally, and his parents. Photo Shows Gerry Spiess sailing his 10ft boat Yankee Girl just before reaching Falmouth yesterday
