Feb. 02, 1953 - Tragic disaster in Garmisch-Partenkirchen, Upper Bavaria, Southern Germany. Felix Endrich, Swiss bobsleigh champ killed - At approximately 0930 hours of January 31st, 1953, the Swiss bobsleigh-champion Felix Endrich was killed thru accident at Garmisch-Partenkirchen, where Germany's International Winter-Sport Festival takes place. On but January 25th, 1953, Endrich had won the world championship in bobsleigh-race. Photo Shows: Fritz Stoscli (left) who luckily escaped death. When he realized that the bob was about to go over the icewall, he succeeded in jumping out, was thrown onto a US Army Jeep. He is seen here explaining all details to Hans Hollinger, Endrich's driver (center). Person right is unidentified
