Bobsledding - Skating - Skiing - Figure Skating

Feb. 02, 1969 - European Championship in Pair Skating: With a surprise did the European championship in pair skating end in Garmisch-Partenkirchen on 5th February, 1969. The well-known Russian couple, Ludmilla Beloussowa and Oleg Protopopow, did not win this championship like in the last few years as expected, but another Russian couple - Irina Rodnina and Alexej Ulanow-came out as the winners. It was only the second time they participated in an international competition and they really presented an excellent show. Photo shows The new European champions in pair skating Irian Rodnina and Alexej Ulanow (centre), on second place last year's winner Ludmilla Beloussowa/Oleg Protopopow (right), and the winners of the Russian championship Tamara Moskwina/Alexej Mischin (left) on third place
