Jan. 01, 1972 - Austrian skier banned from WInter Olympic games.: Veteran Austrian skier Karl Schranz was today banned form the Winter Olympic Games for alleged involvement in commercial advertising, Avery Brundage, president of the International Olympic Committee, said the supreme Olympic body had voted 28-14 to disqualify Schranz.
