May 05, 1985 - Japanese first to descend Matterhorn on skis: Japanese alpinist slowly descends the 4, 447 mts. Matterhorn mountain on skis on May 24 claiming to be the first to achieve the exploit from the summit. It took about four and a half hours in the combination ski and rope-supported descent. Pictured shows Yoshimasa Wada in one oft the steepest sections of the descent
