Feb. 02, 1953 - Ancient and Modern. Small Arms School Centenary.1853-1953: Uniforms and weapons - ancient and modern were to be seen today at the Small Arms Wing of the School of Infantry, Hythe. Kent as part of the college centenary celebrations. Photo shows Q.M.S.I. Jack Markham who comes from Leeds - in the Uniform of a Sgt. Instructor of 1853 as the School of Muskery, as the College was them, and holding a huge Minie French Rifle of the period. On right is Q.M.S.I. Charles Hayter of Southamption wearing the present day uniform - and holding a.303 Les Enfield
