Oct. 12, 1954 - Drill Display With The New F.N. Rifle. Shoulder Arms Instead Of Slope Arms'.: For the first time today a drill Display was given for members of the Press by man of the 1st. Bn. The Wiltshire Regiment - and a Squad of Recruits from the Guards Depot, Caterham - at the School of Infantry, Warminster. They demonstrated the new drill movements which have been modified to suit the new weapon. The drill is still subject to modification as snags arise. Photo shows (Left) demonstrating the new Shoulder Arms with the F.N. rifle is Private Norman Kirtley (22) of Blackhill, Co. Durham - of the Cold-stream Guards. while on right Private Colin Taylor (19) of Worcester - of the Wiltshire Regiment - at Slope Arms with the old 303. The Shoulder Arms with take the place of the Slope Arms
