Jun. 06, 1956 - Early American Musket presented to tower. An early American Eli Whitney musket, was today presented to Sir James Mann, master of Armouries at the tower of London, by Mr. Louis Polk head of the Sheffield Corporation of Dayton, Ohio, as a pre-independence day gift. The historic weapon was the first U.S. industrial product made on mass production lines with interchangeable parts and is from Mr. Polk's collection of Eli Whitney muskets.
