Bombs - Guns - Weapons

Oct. 01, 1963 - It's the only and first height test bench in the Federal Republic of Germany for the third rocket step of the European carrier rocket. The Physik - Institute of Stuttgart, which was built up by Professor Eugen Sanger is working for the German Experiment Institute for airdriving in Lampoldshausen there was built up the modern height test bench for 5.8 million DM. During a few months 45 Engineers are busy with the construction of the European carrier rocket which has been planned by the ELDO (European Launching Development Organization). While Germany works at the third step England builds up the groundstep, France the second step and Italy the head of the rocket with the satellite. The work at Lampoldhausen is done with great quickness, for the first rocket should been ready in 1965 and sent to woomera at Australia to be shoot up. But this term is now changed. The International ELDO- agreement will be subscribed in January at Paris. Photo shows the rocket room as steam generator during a test taken from the bunker. The steam is freed in the background
