Aug. 07, 1963 - Britain's New Super Tank: The Chieftain, the World's most powerful tank was being put through it's paces before the War Minister Mr. Joseph Godber at Chertsey today. The 50 ton tank carries a 120mm velocity else in the world.The tank has a top speed of 25 mph, runs on any kind of fuel, has infra-red head lights fir night operation, is virtually amphibious and fully protected against radiation. Photo Shows The Chieftain has a very low profile, and the driver in the prone position being demonstrated here in a model turret. The driver steers by way of a periscope.
