Sep. 09, 1971 - The man who Saved at Paul's In 1940 Honoured: This morning Mr. George Wyllie returned to St. Paul's where 31 years ago on the same date he made safe a German bomb which threatened to destroy the Cathedral, and earned the George Corss fro his heroism Mr. Willis, now living at Hemerton, London was sapper in an army bomb-disposal team of the Royal Engineers at the time. In ceremony on St. Paul's Steps this morning the Dean-the very Rev Martin Sullivan presented Mr. Wyllie with a gold Medallion, the first of a series to be minted fro the Save St. Paul's Appeal by Ernest Pojoy and Co.
