Book bombs investigated by Scotland Yard, London
Aug. 08, 1973 - Lethal book bombs sent through the post. Seven potentially lethal letter bombs were delivered through the post yesterday to organisations mainly concerned with Government services. The explosives were contained in hollowed-out paperbacks about music, and all failed to explode. The letter bombs were in addition to nine fire bombs found in London's West End stores. Photo shows Commander Robert Huntley, head of the C1 Department at Scotland Yard, wore rubber gloves when holding a book bomb at a Scotland Yard Press Conference, yesterday
