1975 - Former boxer Max Schmeling will be 70 on September 28th.: Germany's most successful boxer Max Schmeling will be 70 on September 28th, 1975. Schmeling was not only the idol of his generation, still 43 years after his biggest triumph, he is as popular as before. 1930 he was the first German boxer to become the world champion which he remained until 1932.1939 he become European champion. But the fight which really made him popular was the one against Joe Louis, which was won by Max Schmeling with k.o. in the 12th round. 1933 Max Schmeling married the actress Anny Ondra, the couple have now been married for 42 years. They lived in Hamburg, where Max Schmeling is a successful businessman.
