Australian Wins Bantam Crown: Lionel Rose, the Australian aborigine boxer became the new world bantamweight champion after beating Fighting Harada ny unanimous decision Tuesday night (Feb 28) at Tokyo's Nippon Budokan (Martial Arts Hall) during their 15-round contest before 8, 000 spectators and a nationally televised broadcast. Harada suffered a knock-down in the ninth round. It was Rose's first crack at a world title, and gives Australia a world champion for the first time in 14 years.
