Oct. 10, 1976 - Challenger takes world title from champion in Tokyo: Royal Kobayashi of Japan knocked out Rigoberto Riasco of Panama in the eight round to win the WBC junior featherweight title at Tokyo's Kuramae Hall. American referee Jay Edson stopped the fight at 48 seconds of the eight round when Kobayashi was punishing the champion with left and right blows.
