Aug. 08, 1957 - Duke of Gloucester Opens Scouting Jamboree. The World Scout Jubilee Jamboree at Sutton Coldfield, England, was opened by the Duke of Gloucester, who is President of the Boy Scouts Association. After the Duke had made his speech of welcome he drove round the ranks of 35, 000 Scouts from 82 countries and toured the camps in which they are living.
