Sep. 18, 1964 - Introducing Britain's Only Mounted Boy Scout Troop: When Dr. Jock Dawson a Ministry of Agriculture vet moved to the village of Hadstock, nr. Saffron Walden, Essex with his wife and son - he found there was no Scout Troop in the area - so he founded one - a troop with a difference. He thought it would be more in the Naden Powell Tradition for the troop to be mounted. Now the boys can be seen on patrol - on horseback. Dr. Dawson owns five of the 12 ponies used by the boys - the other seven are borrowed. Photo shows Britain's only mounted Boy Scout troop - on patrol at the village of Hadstock (Pop. 120)
