Feb. 26 Portuguese Swimmer wins the International Cross-Channel Swimming Race: Baptista Pereira, the 35 year old swimming champion of Portugal, won the international Channel swimming race when he beat 15 competitors from 11 countries, landing 12 hours 25 minutes 1 second after entering the water at Cap Gris Nez at 1230 am. Photo shows Brenda Fisher, of Great Britain swimming strongly in the race today
