British politicians depicted at Madame Tussaud's

Mar. 03, 1969 - New figure of the Prime Minister at Tussaud's; Madame Tussaud's Cabinet Group in the Grand Hall was today joined by a new, up-to-date figure of the Prime Minister, Mr. Harold Wilson, and the 1964 model was removed. This new portrait is the third to have been completed of Mr. Wilson. His first portrait appeared in the Exhibition in 1956 and lasted 8 years the second being ready in time for the 1964 General Election. The Prime Minster very kindly granted an interview and sitting for the new portrait to Madame Tussaud's and their sculptor, Miss Jean Fraser, at No. 10 Downing Street, in the Autumn of 1968. The figure is dressed in a suit and a green tie of the Prime Minister's own choosing. Photo shows the new head of Mr. Wilson rests on the table looked at by Mrs. Barbara Castle and Mr. Michael Stewart in wax, of course! at Tussaud's today
