British Railways steamer, Princess Victoria
Jan. 31, 1953 - 31-1-53 180 in sinking ship told Take to the boats. Radio flashes from the British Railways steamer, Princess Victoria, carrying 180 passengers and crew, this afternoon said Ship on her beam ends preparing to abandon ship. Later messages from the Admiralty say that the ship has sunk, and that tugs are picking up survivors. Many other ships turned from their course and raced to the spot after being told the Princess Victoria was in pretty bad shape near the mouth of Loch Royan, Wigtownshire, off Scotland.
