Bulent Ecevit, PM of Turkey, Istanbul

1968 - Istanbul: Bulent Ecevit, Prime Minister of Turkey: Bulent Ecevit, himself a journalist and a poet, at Turkish Journalists Association in Cagaloglu, Isatanbul's newspaper district, addresses gathered newspapermen and women. On wall is mask of Kemal Ataturk, founder of Turkey and of the Republican People's Party of which Ecevit is leader. Social democrat Ecevit rallied support of urban workers, intellectuals, and city youth especially in the universities. Prime Minister Ecevit is graduate of US founded and formerly supported Robert College in Istanbul, now nationalised and called Bosphorus University.
