Jul. 12, 1956 - 12-7-56 Forty people killed and many injured in Greek Island earthquake At least forty people were killed and many injured when an earthquake struck the Aagean island of Santorini and destroyed or partly damaged 40 percent of the buildings. The Greek Red Cross have erected emergency hospitals under canvas and medical supplies have been rushed to the island to treat the injured.
