Dec. 12, 1968 - Greek Defector Retracts Claim of Torture.: A Greek political refuges claimed in London last night that he had been forced to give false evidence against the Athens military junta at the European Commission on Human Rights in Streaming last month. He is Mr. Pantelis Marketakis, 35, who flew into London on his way from Stockholm to Strasbourg with the Greek charge d'affaires to Denmark Mr. C. Zacharakis, who acted as interpreter. Mr. Marketakis said he was going back to Strasbourg to refute statements that he had been tortured. He said he was forced to make them by the use of psychological pressure. He added that he was kidnapped by communists and my statements were made under the threat of violence - with the presence of 20 revolvers.
