Nov. 25, 1965 - Some Minor Disturbancies As The Greeks Speed Up Church Purge In Athens: The Greek Prime Minister, Mr. Stefano Poulos, has urged the Greek people to react against the rebellion of the bishops and impose the law. The Council of Ministers in an emergency session approved the text of the draft bill deposing the rebel assembly of bishops and introducing drastic reforms in church administrations. It's main provision is for a fund to pool the revenue of all dioceses and redistribute equal shares to all Greek bishops. In the meantime the incumbents nominated by the rebel assembly were consecrated as bishops in the course of ceremonies in Athens and the provinces. They are now going to the capital of their dioceses to take over their functions. Photo shows There were some minor incidents between the people and the bishops during some of the consecration ceremonies in Athen, and here is one of the bishops striking a man with his umbrella as he is escorted away by the police
