Apr. 18 Anarchist Ulrike Meinhof buried in Berlin: Ulrike Meinhof, leading member of the German anarchist Baader-Meinhof group, who committed suicide by hanging herself with a towel in her cell of the Stuttgart-Stammheim prison on May 9th 1976 was buried in Berlin on May 15th. About 4000 people accompanied her on her last journey. After the funeral there took place a demonstration by 45, 000 persons through the streets of Berlin.
