Jul. 07, 1961 - Lewis Crofters come to London to help save dying Industry of Crofter Weaving: At a Press conference at Claridge's, London, today, Mrs Mary Perrins, chairman of McLennan and McLennan Ltd. of Lewis, announced her plans to revive the craft of the crofter in the Isle of Lewis, Mrs Perrins, who wore an ensemble of Lewis light tweed, said her company was reserving the whole of its output of crofter woven wool cloth for sale in the North American continent as this was the best possible way of putting the Isle of Lewis weaving industry on a sound business footing'.
