Aug. 05, 1965 - Glamour Girls Launch Petrol Price War.: A new petrol price war is to be started in London this week by Mr. Cecil Jackson, chairman of European Petroleum. He plans to undercut the petrol giant in the price of petrol and he plans a new sales drive with the help of eleven pretty girls- paid ?100 a week - who will visit petrol stations and garage owners offering profit margins of 6d. a gallon. These prices would make E.P. petrol, which has over 100 filling stations in the London area, the cheapest in Britain.
