Jan. 01, 1968 - American Express Launches See Europe Campaign.: A See Europe campaign is being launched in South Africa by American Express. It marks the opening of the international drive by the world-wide travel organization to attract more new tourists to Britain and the continent in 1968, and so offset the effects of the possible decreases in U.S. visitors resulting from President Johnson's appeal on overseas spending. An 11-ton luxury motorcoach this morning set off from the American Express U.K. head office in Haymarket, for a trip to Maidenhead and back before going to Southampton where it will be shipped to Cape Town in the s.s. Southampton Castle which sai a from Southampton on Friday (Jan. 19).
