Jul. 07, 1968 - Banks press on with their merger campaign chiefs meet the Chancellor of the exchequer: The chairman of three of our big banks this morning met the Chancellor of the Exchequer, Mr. Roy Jenkins, to plead their case for the biggest merger in British history after the Monopolies Commission had ruled against the merger.
