Dec. 07, 1967 - Strike hit factory closing down ? The Roberts-Arundel textile machinery firm at Stockport, Cheshire, hit by a strike for more than a year, will close in January, the management said yesterday. The firm?s American chairman, Mr. Robert E. Pomeranz, blamed the closure on lack of orders. The shutdown decision followed talks on Tuesday between Mr. Pomeranz, the Minister of Labour, Mr. Ray Gunter, and Mr. Hugh Scanlon, president of the Amalgamated Engineering Union.
