Sep. 09, 1971 - Oman Oil Concession Cancelled To The Wendell Philips Oil Company: Following the announcement last Monday that the Oman Government is recinding the off-shore oil concession granted to him personally by Sultan Qaboos bin Said, (announced March 30th 1971), Dr Wendell Phillips multi-millionaire explorer and President of the Wendell Phillips Oil Company held a press conference this morning at Grosvenor House in which he stated that some outside pressure has been brought to bear on the Sultan, whom Dr Phillips has known for more than 20 years as a close personal friend.
