Jul. 07, 1971 - Mr Robert Maxwell to sue the department of trade and industry : Mr. Robert Maxwell 48, who was the former chairmen of pergamon press, issued a writ against the department of trade and industry. The write followed the publication on Mr. Maxwell's conduct as pergamon chairman by the department. It said that Mr. Maxwell is not a person who can be relied on to exercise peeper stewardship of a publicity quoted company. the report also said in reporting to shareholders he has reckless unjustified optimism which enabled him on some occasion to disregard unpalatable facts and on others to state called a press conference to state that he welcomed the inquiry in the first place, but, as the report stands it is a smear so that is why he has issued the writ. photo shows Mr Robert Maxwell seen speaking to members of the press to state why he was issuing a writ against the department of trade and industry
