Jan. 01, 1970 - Gift Matches Strike A Snag. With the aid of a child's printing set and sustained by coffee, Mr. Frank Sawyer, 57, a Stamford, Lincs, garage owner, yesterday stamped 3, 000 boxes of matches in the chartroom of the cargo vessel, Sussex, 11, 272 tons, in the Royal Albert Dock, London. He was complying with customs regulations requiring that imported boxes of matches must give the number of their contents. His boxes contained an average of 30 sticks. The boxes, printed with his garage name, had been sent to him as a Christmas present by his son, Peter, 26, a catering manager in New Zealand, for him to give away to his garage customers.
