Aug. 08, 1972 - B.E.A. Plans to Order America's Lockheed Tristar in a 0 Million Deal. The British Airways Board plans to order America's Lockheed superquiet Tristar jet airliners in a 0 million deal it was announced today by Mr. Michael Heseltine, Minister for Aerospace. The Order is for six Tristars, powered by Rolls Royce RB 211 engines, backed by options on a further six. Today's announcement is a new departure in B.E.A.'s 26 year history.
