Nov. 11, 1972 - The Flying Scotsman Run Away With His Fortune When Ex-Millionaire Alan Pegler appeared on the London bankruptcy Court, yesterday - he told them how a train took him for a ride to financial disaster. The train was the Flying Scotsman - which was once the pride of British Railways. Mr. Pegler brought the steam train for £3, 000 in 1963. Now he has a total debts of £132, 383 and assets of £71, 737.
