Feb. 02, 1974 - Group Of Industrialists In Bid To End The Mine's Strike: The full executive of the miners union meets today to discuss an astonishing offer by an unknown merchant banker to buy off the pit strike for80, 000 a day. The proposal came from Mr. Godfrey Bradman, 37-year-old chairman of the London Mercantile Corporation, a merchant bank with offices in London. Yesterday Mr. Bradman had private talks with the miners leaders to discuss his offer in which the miners would be paid a total of2, 500, 000 raised by a consortium of unnamed industrialists - to go back to work.
