1977 - Dame Elizabeth Ackroyed is the new Chairman of the Bloodstock and Racehorse Industries: Dame Elizabeth Ackroyd, D.B.E. has today become the new Chairman of the Bloodstock and Racehorse Industries Confederation. She is the first ever women to hold this office. Dame Elizabeth, who became a household name as Director of the Consumer Council was also the first women to be appointed to the Board of the Horserace Totalisator.
