Feb. 02, 1979 - 300, 000 Civil Servants Stage A One-Day Strike: A one-day strike called by two unions representing near 300, 000 Civil Servants is taking place today. The action in support of a higher pay claim is affecting Government services ranging from the diplomatic communications to VAT repayments. And that the Airports like Heathrow, Gatwick, Customs men also joined in. so any incoming travellers justs walks through and the only thing they see is an honesty box.
