Nov. 27, 1979 - November 27th, 1979 British Leyland Boss Sir Michael Edwardes refuses to reinstate Communist shop steward Sir Michael Edwardes, Chairman of British Leyland, is standing by his guns over the sacking of Mr. Derek Robinson, the Communist shop steward whom he sacked a week ago from his job as a tool fitter at Leyland's biggest works, Longbridge, Birmingham. Yesterday, Mr. Robinson led a march through the city of 3, 000 of his supporters calling on Sir Michael to reinstate him of he would shut down Leyland.
