Butlin Marathon walk from John O'Groats to Land's End

Feb. 02, 1960 - The Marathon Marchers On The Way The Mass Start: Seven hundred competitors set out yesterday from John O Groats - on the Butlin Marathon walk to Land's End. Five hours after the start - 150 people had dropped out - and soon 21 of them were in hospital at Wick - being treated for blisters and exposure. Holiday Camp King Billy Butlin is putting up prizes valued at more than 5, 000 - and with No. 13 up - he set off to cover the first 50 miles himself.
