Aug. 17, 1953 - A New Rail Crash - Express Splits In Two: The steep sides of a cutting prevented the coaches overturning and averted serious casualties when an express broke in two and was derailed while travelling at 60 m.p.h. at Kingsbury, near Tamworth, Staffordshire, yesterday. There were 366 passengers aboard the 9.28 a.m. from Bradford to Bristol as it hurtled through the cutting which has steep banks 25-ft high on each side. The train began to away, than the engine and tender healed over and left the track, dragging the first two coaches with them. Breaking adrift, the other seven coaches with them.
