Cable Cars - Locomotives - Railroads - Trains - Trolleys

Jun. 06, 1966 - Squeezing more skirts into the rush hour: Short skirts are all very well - until you sit down. Then they can become positively embarrassing. The problem was solved rather nicely when Mr. Peter Harvey designed these seats. Mr. Harvey, a design student at the Royal College of Art, nobly claims he wasn't even thinking of girls when he designed the seats for bus ou Tube travel. He recons with these seats underground trains could carry 50 per cent more passengers even in the rush hour. Photo shows These seats certainly solve the problem for the girl with the miniskirt - but they were actually designed by Mr. Harvey for Underground trains and busses, so that they could carry more passengers. He hopes the London transport will lock at the seats at the Kiensington College's annual exhibition
