Cadet School reopened, Naumburg

Sep. 09, 1956 - The Cadet-School at Naumburg reopened on September 1, 1956. The director is General-Major Blechschmidt. Instructors are partially civilian teachers but mainly members of the a soviet-zonal people's army. The pupils are sons of farmers or labourers and can enrol in the school when they are 12 years old, and are of more than average intelligence. The school is divided in lower and upper levels, the latter is attended by pupils from 14 to 18 years of age. The boys receive a high-school and college education and a junior military training, since they are expected to become officers, but the training is conducted in a way that they are able to choose a business career as well. The lessons take up 6 hours daily, the main subject is literature. The off-time is sometimes filled with a Pioneer festival but mainly with a visit in town
