Aug. 08, 1965 - U.S. Marines Rout Viet Cong.: U.S. Marines went into action near the Da Nang airbase to try and clear the area of viet cong guerillas who constantly stage hit-and-run attaeks on them. The hunt named Operation Weld resulted in 25 Viet Cong killed, and 33 captured, The American casualties were unreported.
