Oct. 10, 1970 - Canadian Government assumes emergency powers: The Canadian Government last Friday assumed emergency powers, outlawed the extremist Quebee Liberation Front FLQ and ordered the arrest of more tham 200 FLQ members and sympathizers. The emergency was declared because the FLW had ignored the Queben Government's offer to release five so called political prisoners in exchange for the two men kidnapped by FLQ terrorists M, Pierre Laperte, Quebee's Labor Minister (whose body was later found in the boot of a car) and Mr. James Cross, the British diplomat.
